A custom oral appliance for snoring and sleep apnoea. From $1,199.

Start with a telehealth consultation from home. If an appliance suits you, we book you into a partner dental clinic near you for your scan and fitting. Three devices, each with its own published evidence, made from a scan of your own teeth and fitted by a dentist.

Devices and prices

Three devices. Each with its own evidence and indication.

All three are custom-made from a digital scan of your teeth and fitted and adjusted by a dentist. What changes between them is the technology inside the appliance.

The iHeart Sleep Basic appliance: upper and lower plates joined by an adjustable connector.
Mandibular advancement only

iHeart Sleep Basic

$1,199
custom mandibular advancement device
Indicated for snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnoea, where jaw position is the main driver.

Holds your lower jaw forward during sleep to keep the airway open. The same class of appliance most sleep dentists supply, made to the same standard.

  • Custom mandibular advancement device
  • No air channel, no PEEP Shield™ valve
PEEP Guard seen from above, showing the iACT integrated air channel through the front of the appliance.
+ integrated air channel

PEEP Guard™

$1,495
… plus the integrated air channel
Indicated for cases where jaw advancement alone has not been enough — and for people who breathe through the mouth at night, or cannot breathe freely through the nose.

Adds iACT™ — an air channel built through the body of the appliance, stabilising the tongue and allowing air to keep flowing in the presence of nasal obstruction and soft palate collapse.

  • Custom mandibular advancement device
  • + iACT™ integrated air channel
+20% reduction

in the breathing events still remaining after mandibular advancement, measured in people a standard device had not helped.2

Recommended
The PEEP Shield one-way valve.
+ air channel + oral EPAP valve

PEEP Guard™ with PEEP Shield™

$1,795
… plus the PEEP Shield™ valve
Indicated for moderate to severe sleep apnoea, where pressure is needed as well as jaw position.

Adds PEEP Shield™ — a one-way valve that uses your own breathing out to generate pressure inside the airway, which is the principle CPAP uses mechanically.

  • Custom mandibular advancement device
  • + iACT™ integrated air channel
  • + PEEP Shield™ valve
+53% reduction

in the events still remaining — 12.6 down to 5.9 an hour — when the valve was added to an appliance that already had the air channel, in people new to treatment.3

Using your dental extras

Your consultations: every consultation — telehealth, scan, fitting and reviews — is gap-free with dental extras cover, and so are your check-up, clean and x-rays.*

Your appliance: claimable under item 984, which covers part of the device fee. What your fund pays depends on your policy and how much of your annual limit is left, so we check your out-of-pocket cost with you before you commit.

What’s left: interest-free payment plans are available for any out-of-pocket costs, including the appliance gap and a home sleep study.

*Subject to the policy’s waiting periods and remaining annual limits.

A quick self-check

Which of these sound familiar?

Sleep apnoea is easy to miss, because most of it happens while you are asleep and the daytime signs get blamed on age, stress or a busy life. Tick anything you have noticed in the last few months.

Home sleep study $299. Your gap-free telehealth consultation confirms whether you need one, and we send the WatchPAT™ to you.

This self-check is an awareness tool only. It does not provide a diagnosis and no result from it should be relied on as one. Sleep apnoea is diagnosed from a sleep study, not from a questionnaire.

How it works

Three mechanisms. One compact appliance.

01

Mandibular advancement

The appliance holds your lower jaw forward, which carries the tongue base with it and widens the airway behind it. This is the mechanism every custom sleep appliance uses, and it is what iHeart Sleep Basic does.

02

The integrated air channel — iACT™

A channel moulded through the appliance itself, giving air a route past a closed mouth and a retruded tongue. Added at PEEP Guard.

03

Expiratory pressure — PEEP Shield™

A one-way valve lets you breathe in freely and resists breathing out, so your own exhalation holds pressure in the airway. Expiratory positive airway pressure, generated without a machine. Added with PEEP Shield.

An incomplete response doesn’t mean oral appliance therapy can’t work for you

A conventional appliance works on one thing: jaw position. Sleep apnoea usually has more than one driver, so a partial result is common and is not a verdict on the whole approach.

The combination of an integrated air channel and a positive end expiratory pressure valve in patients who have not achieved a successful outcome with a standard oral appliance has the potential to significantly improve the clinical outcome.10 Here is what happened when patients who had previously failed therapy were escalated one step at a time, in a government-funded three-year research programme.10

Cumulative — each figure includes the people already resolved at the step before (coral shows the step’s addition). 93% were resolved with nothing worn over the face. The last 7% needed CPAP added to the appliance, at lower pressure and without a full face mask.

CPAP is an effective treatment when it is used consistently, and we are not going to tell you otherwise. The question is which treatment you will still be using in a year.

Questions

The things people ask us most

Will it work for me?
Obstructive sleep apnoea has several different drivers, and response to any oral appliance varies between individuals. What we can do is assess your sleep study, your severity, your anatomy and your treatment history, and give you an honest view on whether this approach is worth trying. That is exactly what the telehealth consultation is for.
How is this different from a CPAP machine?
CPAP uses a bedside pump to deliver continuous positive pressure through a hose and mask, across the whole breathing cycle. PEEP Guard is worn in the mouth and, with the PEEP Shield valve, uses your own exhaled breath to generate expiratory positive airway pressure, alongside mandibular advancement and an integrated air channel. They are different treatments that share the principle of positive airway pressure.
Do I need a sleep study?
A diagnosis matters, and so does a reasonably recent one. Your telehealth consultation works out whether you need one. If you already have a recent sleep study, have it handy for the call. If you don’t, or yours is quite old, we can send you a WatchPAT™ home sleep study for $299: a small device worn on your wrist and finger for one night in your own bed, with the results reviewed before your appliance is chosen.
What does treatment cost?

Three devices, listed in full further up this page: iHeart Sleep Basic $1,199, PEEP Guard $1,495 and PEEP Guard with PEEP Shield $1,795. The appliance is claimable under item 984, and we confirm your out-of-pocket cost with you before you commit.

With dental extras cover, every consultation is gap-free — telehealth, scan, fitting and reviews — as are your check-up, clean and x-rays, subject to your policy’s waiting periods and remaining annual limits.

If you need a home sleep study, it is $299 out of pocket. Interest-free payment plans are available for any out-of-pocket costs.

Can I claim private health insurance?
If you hold dental extras, the appliance is usually claimable under item 984 as major dental or, on some policies, orthodontics. What your fund pays varies: some funds pay a substantial benefit, some pay a small fixed amount, and some pay nothing at all. We would rather check your actual policy than guess, so we do that check with you before you commit and tell you exactly what you will be out of pocket.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. Interest-free payment plans are available for any out-of-pocket costs, including the gap on your appliance and a home sleep study if you need one. Our team sets out the amount and the plan before anything is booked.
I don’t have extras cover. Can I still have treatment?
Yes. The device prices are the same; without extras cover, consultation fees apply and there is no item 984 benefit. Call our clinical team and we will set out the full cost before anything is booked. Interest-free payment plans are available.
Can I book straight into a clinic?
Every patient starts with a telehealth consultation, so a dentist can confirm an appliance suits you — and whether you need a sleep study — before you travel anywhere. After that, our team books your check-up, clean, x-rays, scan and fitting at the partner clinic nearest you. You can see the full list of clinic locations on this page.
What does the telehealth consultation involve?
A video call with a dentist, from home. We go through your symptoms, any sleep study you have and anything you have already tried, decide whether you need a home sleep study, and which of the three devices suits your case. It is gap-free with dental extras cover.
Next step
